Nama is a Persian vocabulary learning app for iPhone. We designed it to collect as little about you as possible.
Photos You Use In Nama
When you capture a photo or choose an existing image to generate a study card, that image is sent to a secure proxy we operate on Cloudflare Workers. The proxy forwards the image to Anthropic's Claude API, receives a structured word card in response, and returns it to your phone.
Neither we nor Cloudflare store your photo. Anthropic processes the photo only to generate the card and does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models by default.
Your Photo Library
Nama accesses your photo library only when you explicitly choose an existing image to turn into a card. Nama does not browse your library in the background.
Voice Recordings
When you use pronunciation practice, Nama records short samples of your voice through your iPhone's microphone.
In this release, those clips stay on your device and are used only so you can compare your recording against the Persian audio. Nama does not upload practice recordings for AI judging or pronunciation scoring.
Hear-It Audio
When you tap Hear It, Nama may request a Persian audio rendering of the card text from our backend speech service. This uses the text already shown on the card, not a recording from your microphone.
Usage Data
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs. Our server keeps narrow operational counts, such as how many cards have been generated each day, for cost control and abuse prevention. These counts are not tied to your identity.
Accounts And Local Data
Nama does not require an account. Your captured cards, review history, and pronunciation attempts live on your phone in Apple's SwiftData framework. If you delete the app, that local data is deleted with it.
Crash Reports
Crash reports are delivered through Apple's developer tools when users choose to share diagnostics with app developers. You can manage this in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Nama is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in ways that materially affect how your data is handled, we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify users through the app.
